What is the course about?
To give near beginners further exposure to the basic Greek alphabet, simple phrases and survival language, as well as an introduction to the basic structure of the language.
What will we cover?
Shopping, renting a house, dates, objects in the house, navigation, travelling
Grammar: adjectives (singular and plural), present tense, nouns in genitive, comparatives, verbs in the past tense.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- express likes and dislikes
- describe houses
- navigate inside a room
- describe how a room is furnished
- give your age
- talk about dates
- talk about the past.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Level 1 module 3 course - Students should have attended Modern Greek 1 modules 1 and 2 , i.e. they should have studied Modern Greek for 6 months or have an elementary knowledge of the language.

You will also need to be able to respond to simple instructions and read course documents in English and be at ease with the use of number for daily activities (e.g. using money, telling the time, etc).
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
The course is based on the communicative approach:
- active students’ interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
- pair and group work
- role plays
- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate
Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.

Modern Greek 2 lower: module 1. Please enrol as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
