City Lit fosters a stammer affirming environment. Stammering is welcomed in all its forms. We recognise the experience of stammering is individual. Our Open Stammering events are an opportunity to build connections and gain support in the stammering community through creative, collaborative endeavours.

What is the course about?
Our hope is through our Open Stammering Series of Events we will build a lively, creatively engaged stammering community at City Lit. For this event we are embracing the power of music to build connections, share voices and collectively create song.
What will we cover?
This event is for pleasure, community and building self-confidence . Guided by our expert conductor, along the way you will explore:
- Breathing for singing
- Voice projection
- Diction and articulation
- Singing in harmony
- Posture for singing.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- Experienced singing as part of a group.
- Through our conductors teaching you will know a little more about how your voice works for singing.
- Had opportunities to reflect on the experience with other students.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
All that is required is wanting to take part. The event welcomes singers and non-singers alike. The event is suitable for all levels of ability and experience. We will have an accompanist for the event.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
All music will be provided on the day. No need to prepare anything in advance.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
A bottle of water, food for lunch.
