Our hope is through our Open Stammering series of events we will build a lively, creatively engaged stammering community at City Lit. For this event we will be exploring the possibilities that mindfully engaging in the visual arts can bring to build connections, share voices and collectively create art.

What will we cover?
This event is for pleasure. Guided by our Visual Arts tutor, along the way you will explore: - An introduction to mindfulness and a range of mindfulness practices - Explore mindfulness and mindful drawing to stimulate presence of mind and creativity - A range of practices to engage sensory awareness, to enliven your perception and stimulate fesh perspectives.
What will I achieve? By the end of this course you should be able to...
Draw with more confidence and enjoyment Identify how engaging mindfulness with drawing can support greater presence of mind, curiosity and confidence Engage in mindfulness and mindful drawing exercises to stimulate your creativity Take away a small toolkit of sensory mindfulness practices and ideas.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
All that is required is wanting to take part. We welcome enthusiastic beginners to drawing as well as those with experience in drawing or mindfulness.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Through guided mindfulness practices Demonstration of drawing methods Practical drawing exercises.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
All you will need to bring is paper, pencil and an eraser. You are welcome to bring and use other materials (e.g. coloured pencils) but these are additional and not a requirement for joining the session.
