What is the course about?

The course enables students to communicate in a Spanish-speaking country in everyday situations and to enjoy the language culture of Spanish-speaking countries.

What will we cover?

Asking for permission and favours, invitations, means of transport, directions, saying what you did last weekend, describing objects, expresisng posession.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- ask for permission and favours
- invite people to go out (accept and refuse)
- ask for information about transport
- ask for and give directions
- say what you did last weekend
- describe objects.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Students should have completed Spanish 2 lower or Spanish 2 lower at a gentle pace: module 1 & 2 or have an equivalent knowledge of the language (at least 2 year of Spanish study). Please note this course goes at a slower pace than our standard courses.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

This course offers a friendly and relaxed atmosphere which will enable you to learn at your own pace. Your tutor will use a range of teaching strategies to ensure that you gradually build up your confidence in speaking and listening. Throughout the course, you will receive learning tips on how to speak in groups more effectively and independently (without relying on your notes). You will practise listening to spoken language in ways that will maximise your understanding. There will be activities and advice to help you retain vocabulary.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Textbook & exercise book: Based on units 10-14 “Ele Actual A2: Libro del alumno (con licencia digital) + CDs - 2019, ISBN: 9788413180380 and Ele Actual A2: Cuaderno de ejercicios + CD ISBN: 9788467547481 by SM Publishers.
Note: you might not cover all the activities in the book during the course.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Your progression route will be one of our Spanish 2 upper at a gentle pace: module 1 in January or if you would prefer to switch to one of our standard formats, any of our Spanish 2 upper: module 1 courses. Please enrol early as spaces cannot be guaranteed.

My name is Montse and I am from Seville in the South of Spain. I have a Masters Degree in Bilingual Translation from the University of Westminster and I have worked as an interpreter and translator in both the public and private sector. I qualified as a Spanish Teacher and DELE Examiner with the Cervantes Institute and University of Roehampton, and I have been teaching Spanish full-time since 2016. The thing I love most about teaching is seeing my students progress and gain confidence.
