What is the course about?
To enable students to communicate more fully and fluently in a wider range of everyday situations and conversations. The course will also give insight into cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries.
What will we cover?
Asking and giving advice, describing how you feel, illness and remedies, describing in the past, comparing past and present, describing experiences in the past, celebrations in Spain and Latin America.
Grammar: uses of ser/estar, imperfect, contrast simple past/imperfect.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- Describe how you feel
- Give advice, orders and instructions
- Describing habits and situations in the past
- Tell an anecdote with increased fluency
- Contrast past and present.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is intended for students who have completed stage 2 upper: module 2 or have an equivalent knowledge of the language. How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?
Any of our summer revision courses (LBS08 or LBS22). Your progression route would be any of our Spanish 3 lower: module 1 courses.
If you feel you would like gaining more confident with your speaking, you can join our Spanish 2 conversation course (every other week). Please enrol early to avoid disappointment.
