What is the course about?
In this course, you will focus on the Argentine accent. It is a famous one, particularly thanks to Tango music and Milonga and it presents very specific challenges, so be ready to sharpen your ear for your next Milonga or journey to Buenos Aires!
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.
What will we cover?
- sounds and rhythms, musicality
- Intonation and pronunciation.
- elisions and dipthongues
- specific vocabulary
- a mix of different topics from everyday situations to help you cope better in your interactions with people from Andalucia.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- have mode confidence in your conversations with people from Argentina.
- be aware of some tricks and tips of how Spanish from Argentina is spoken.
- better recognise speakers who speak in a Argentine accent
- have a better-trained ear to understand spoken Spanish more easily as a whole.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is intended forupper intermediate/advanced students of Spanish. For City Lit students, that will mean students on a 3 upper or a level 4. You should have studied Spanish for at least 4 years.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.
