What is the course about?

The course aims to enable students to reinforce and consolidate their ability to communicate in Spanish through the specific topic of Art, by analysing and discussing sculptures that can see in London museums.
Please note that the lesson will also include some grammar practice done through the study of Spanish artistic works.

What will we cover?

This term, we will focus on 3 sculptures representing Roman, Baroque and contempary art. We will travel through 12th century Spain, we will study the religious traditions of the 17th century and the avant-garde movements of the first decades of the 20th century.
We will end our course with a visit to the V&A Museum on the last session to see, for real, some of the pieces studied in class.

Grammar points reviewed: conditional structures and indirect speech.

Please note that the first part of the lesson will be dedicated to the more cultural and historical elements, while the second part of the session will be more dedicated to the practice of the language elements through the topic studied in the first part.

What will I achieve?

Anna Riera Mora

I have lived abroad for more years than in my home town Barcelona, because I have always enjoyed travelling and getting to know different cultures. I currently teach Spanish and Catalan, my mother tongues, to adults and university students. I also speak Italian, English and some French. My pending subject is to learn Arabic. However, my passion is art history, especially 19th century sculpture. I have also worked as an exhibition curator in some Catalan museums. So, if I'm not in class, you'll find me in a museum or exhibition. In this sense, London is a jewel. For all these reasons, I love to prepare courses in which I can combine my interest in teaching languages with my interest in art history.
