What is the course about?

This lively course will give you the opportunity to revise and consolidate the language structures learnt this year (beginners modules 1 and 2 only). You will be able to communicate more confidently and fluently on a range of everyday situations. We will focus on developing your listening and speaking skills.

What will we cover?

Topics: personal details, family, physical description, free time, likes and dislikes, ordering in a bar, buying in shops, describing places telling the time.

Grammar: present tense (regular, irregular and reflexive verbs), verb 'gustar', verbs 'ser/estar/hay/tener', adjectives.

What will I achieve?

- talk about everyday activities
- describe your city
- tell the time

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Suitable if you have completed Spanish beginners: module 2 or have studied Spanish for less than a year. This is a revision course so students will revise and consolidate the main points of elementary Spanish.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material. Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

The course is based on the tutor’s own resources and on Unit 4 of your Nos Vemos Hoy 1 Compacto coursebook.

Analía Tolone

Analía is a native Spanish speaker from Argentina. She holds a BA and Postgraduate Diploma from Universidad de Buenos Aires. Since she graduated, she has taught English and Spanish language at various levels from Primary School to Adult Education in different settings. As a teacher, she has developed a passion for digital tools which she has incorporated into her teaching practice to enhance the students’ learning experience. Since June 2020, she has worked collaboratively with the Tutor Development Programme (TDP) to plan and deliver tutor training sessions about teaching online as well as student inductions to support students with different digital tools. Analía has recently received the Inspiring Teacher of the Year Award at City Lit. This award recognises tutors who have provided a high-quality online learning experience, demonstrated exceptional knowledge of their subject matter, and provided a memorable classroom experience.
