    This course will help you get become confident in your everyday communication including reading and writing. We will focus on topics that interest you and use these to help you improve the key elements of reading and writing as well as communication skills to enable you to express your thoughts and feelings including in difficult situations. You will learn to how write whole sentences and paragraphs, use adjectives effectively, organise your writing, make notes and complete drafts, spell important common words, use punctuation correctly and develop reading and writing strategies most suited to you. And you will learn some digital skills including reading and finding information from websites. This course has no exams.

  4. Digital skills for deaf people: Introduction to Office 365: Word for work (Entry 2 - Level 2)

    This course will give you the skills and confidence to create a well-written and well-presented Word documents. We will focus on how to create and write short documents such as letters and forms so you can format them correctly, arrange the text and layout appropriately and add footers and headers and other layout features. We will look at how to use tables, insert them into documents and format them. We will also practise inserting images and altering those images. Finally, we will practise printing documents so that the documents maintain their formatting and managing your files so they are easy to find. Throughout the course, there will be an emphasis on making sure your files are safe and private.

    This course is suitable for deaf people who can read and write English reasonably well but would like to know more about English grammar and the language / vocabulary we use to talk about language. Delivered via British Sign Language, the weekly sessions will use both languages to make sense of English grammar by incorporating various teaching and learning activities such as discussions, comparing and contrasting BSL and English and so forth.
