    This course will help you get become confident in your everyday communication including reading and writing. We will focus on topics that interest you and use these to help you improve the key elements of reading and writing as well as communication skills to enable you to express your thoughts and feelings including in difficult situations. You will learn to how write whole sentences and paragraphs, use adjectives effectively, organise your writing, make notes and complete drafts, spell important common words, use punctuation correctly and develop reading and writing strategies most suited to you. And you will learn some digital skills including reading and finding information from websites.

    This course is suitable if you have enough vocabulary to be able to read and write basic sentences. During this course, you will learn more vocabulary and grammar to help you talk, read and write about yourself, your family and friends and complete forms, short sms and e-mails.     The aim of the course is to help you to develop your language awareness and knowledge of English grammar in terms of word classes and their functions. You will learn about nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, determiners, prepositions and connectives. You will be signposted to online sources of information and practical exercises which can be used to refine and revise your knowledge throughout the course and after the course has concluded.   4. English for deaf people: Reading for pleasure (entry 1) - part 1

    The aim of this course is to develop your reading skills in a friendly and supportive environment. During this course you will read various book stories chosen by the tutor. You will also be discussing your reading materials in BSL, learning new vocabulary and exploring the structure of English. This course has no exams.

  5. BSL level 1 for Deaf people

    This course is for Deaf learners who already use sign language in their everyday lives and want to further develop their skills in British Sign Language at level 1.







    You will be able to communicate in BSL in a range of everyday topics and achieve a level 1 qualification, accredited by Signature.



    This course is FREE if you are a resident in London and your preferred language is BSL

  7. BSL practice for Deaf people

    This course is for Deaf people who already use sign language in their everyday lives.







    It will help you to develop confidence, and is a chance to practise everyday BSL at beginner and intermediate level. You will build on and expand your skills ready for the next level of BSL. This is not a course with an exam but you will receive a certificate of attendance if you attend 80% of the course.
