What is the course about?
The course is designed as a workshop studio that provides a focused and supportive arena in which to develop your talent, hone your craft, tackle the problems that you may experience and learn new skills. You will make use of the approaches to preparation and characterisation developed by Stanislavski, as well as the Method practitioners who elaborated his work further. We will also learn useful tools to analyse and free up text work.
What will we cover?
• Objectives and activities - the basics of acting
• Given circumstances - the background to the present moment
• Mental Reconnaissance - ways to encounter and analyse text

• Bits and Beats - how to sub-divide and break down your text into actable chunks
• Character and relationship exercises - how to deepen your work through improvised encounters.
Please note that acting classes by their very nature can involve exercises and the exploration of material that some students may find challenging.
