What is the course about?
All cultures respect the world of Story, The ability to tell Stories, in a variety of settings, is a skill that has seen a strong resurgence both in the workplace and in contemporary performance. We all like to hear stories! This course will help you to tell them, short, long, traditional, anecdotal, personal, fairytales, fables…they all require the key ingredient of confidence, and a basic understanding of structure. This course will be delivered in the college.
What will we cover?
* Performance Skills and Communication Essentials
* Understanding Narrative Structure
* How to feel safe while being spontaneous
* How to ‘visualise’ your Stories as you tell them
* How to get to grips with ‘less is more’, as a performer.
* Enriching vocabulary, and being aware of ‘rhythm’.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
*Tell a story confidently
* Engage an audience
* Use your natural skills to the best of your ability.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is open to everyone.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Group pair and individual work as directed by the tutor. Some planning for the next class may be required.
