What is the course about?
We spend the morning at the City Lit with a presentation and map reading to gain a comprehensive picture of what London was like in the fourteenth century. We will break for lunch and then meet outside St Paul’s Station (Cathedral side) where we will commence our walk (c. 2 hours) around medieval London. Comfortable shoes and a good imagination are a must!

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
Describe the perimeters of Chaucer’s London
Identify the location of two sites associated with Chaucer
Know where to find two fourteenth-century (and modern!) public toilets
Enjoy walking around the City of London utilising the knowledge gained on this course.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
No prior knowledge is required but a good understanding of English is essential.
An ability to participate in a two-hour guided tour.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
There will be a PowerPoint presentation to illustrate key points and map reading to note prominent sites in Chaucer’s London. You will be guided around the City of London and are encouraged to share your thoughts and ideas in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
There are no extra costs other than note-taking materials and public transport to St Paul’s. You are advised to wear comfortable shoes and bring a bottle of water.
