What is the course about?

This course is intended for learners who have completed at least three years of active Welsh study. You will continue to develop your understanding of Welsh grammar and improve the 4 key skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing).

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

The following units include revision of the following areas of grammar; comparative and superlative adjectives and their effect on sentence structure, and tags.

Topics will include:

- tafodieithoedd
- teithio
- sefydliadau a diwydiant Cymreig
- y cyfryngau a'r papurau bro
- y gwledydd Celtaidd.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- use the passive voice in long (cafodd…) and short form e.g. "anafwyd y dyn"
- use dates
- say what should happen, or what you would like to do.
- use the simple past forms of BOD (bues i…)
- expand clauses using 'y', 'a' and 'na'.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

The course is suitable for students who have recently completed Welsh 3 lower: module 3 at City Lit or have been studying Welsh for at least 4 years.
Students at this level are working towards at CEFR B2.

Choose a level 3 upper course if you can:

- understand details of authentic conversations of moderate length and complexity (e.g., interviews, adverts, news)
- understand specific details and general information from routine telephone calls,
- follow routine instructions (e.g., for a game, recipe, using equipment or installing computer software),
- understand articles from the press or other authentic sources and produce a written summary covering the main points.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Resources will be shared by the tutor via Google Classroom.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Welsh 3 Upper: module 2 in Term 2.
