Roberto Minardi

Roberto moved to London in 1999. In 2002, he took a Diploma in Teaching Foreign Languages, and since then he has taught Italian in various colleges and universities. In 2005 he gained a CELTA qualification and moved to Central America for about a year. There he began teaching English, a job he carried on doing for various years on his return to England. Teaching English to speakers of other languages gave him the opportunity to work with students from diverse educational backgrounds, and allowed him to refine the technique of using the target language in class. Roberto strongly believes in helping students to build a positive attitude towards using Italian as much as possible, and to overcome the inhibition adults often experience, so that they can enjoy using the language. He went on to get a Joint BA in French Studies & Spanish and Latin American Studies. He has published several volumes of poetry in Italian. In addition to his interest in languages and literature, he has done extensive personal study in areas such as Italian Baroque, 19th and 20th century Italian art and history, and Italian dialects. Roberto enjoys sharing his studies and knowledge in class.
