What is the course about?

This course is a one day, hands on workshop in screenprinting. You will clean, prepare and develop your own screen using your own photographic image. You will then use your screen to print multi layered, multi coloured images, learning basic registration techniques in the process.

What will we cover?

Basic Photoshop skills, applying halftones. Early screenprinting and it’s use within in the Pop-Art movement. A fantastic insight into beginner screenprinting and setting up your own DIY screenprint press. You will also learn rudimentary photographic techniques that can be used in screenprint.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

You will be able to coat and develop your own screen. Print you photographic image in up to 3 layers creating vivid and eye-catching works of art. You will also learn techniques that nurture a clean, environmentally conscious practice.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is suited for absolute beginners to professional artists looking to start learning how to screenprint. No particular skills are required.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

This one day course is delivered in a clean and well resourced print classroom. Students will not be expected to work outside of the studio environment.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

It would be preferable if students brought their own personal photographic images to print. However, students are always able to source images from Google if desired.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

You will have a basic understanding of the screenprinting process that would set you up for our longer screenprint course. You would also gain knowledge in setting up your own personal DIY press or looking to become a member of a professional ‘open access’ print studio..
