What is the course about?

To enable students to communicate more fully and fluently in a wider range of everyday situations and conversations. The course will also give insight into cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

Asking for permission and favours, accepting and refusing invitations,talking about past experiences, intentions and projects, food habits in Spain and Latin America.

Grammar: present continuous, present perfect, use of "ya/todavía no", use of "ir a + infinitive", impersonal form "se", direct object pronouns,simple past, use of "gustaría + infinitive".

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Ask for permission and favours
- Express opinion about past experiences
- Give opinion about food habits
- Naming ingredients and explaining recipes.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is intended for students who have completed Spanish 2 upper: module 1 or have an equivalent knowledge of the language.

It is also essential that you have some knowledge of basic grammar terminology such as: a verb, a noun and conjugation. It would be helpful if you had knowledge of more intermediate grammar terminology such as: prepositions, direct and indirect pronouns, adjectives, and adverbs.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

Adriana holds a qualification to teach adults. She has taught Spanish to adults and teenagers for more than 8 years at different levels ranging from beginners to proficiency, including GCSE exams, in groups and one-to-one lessons -face to face and online-. She has worked as a Spanish tutor in educational institutions such as City Lit; Bishopsgate Institute; Morley College, UK Government departments as DEFRA, and for agencies tutoring private students for well-known organizations namely BBC, Arthur & Gallagher, AON, AHJ, among others. She got a degree in Anthropology from the Central University of Venezuela. A career in which she developed her knowledge and passion about Languages and Culture. Additionally, back in her country she worked in cultural research in the publishing area, events organization and organizational structure.
