What is the course about?

The course aims to enable students to communicate in a Spanish-speaking country in everyday situations.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone can be used if you don't have a computer but please note the experience may be less optimal.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

Shopping, quantities, prices, ordering in a bar, description of places and towns, asking for information, telling the time, talking about frequency, modes of transport

Culture: Spanish bars, Costa Rica, Sevilla, Bogotá, Colombia.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- buy items in shops
- talk about food
- order in a bar
- describe places, cities and towns
- ask for and tell the time
- ask for information
- say what you can do in your town
- read short simple texts about some Spanish speaking cities and countries.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Students should have completed Spanish beginners module: 1 or have an equivalent knowledge of Spanish.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

Please note that the hybrid edition includes, among other material, a digital version of the Nos Vemos Hoy 1 exercise book. If you would like to also have a paper copy of the exercise book, please do so, but it is not a requirement.

Any Spanish beginners: module 3 course. Please enrol as soon as possible as spaces cannot be guaranteed.

Roberto Gallego

Roberto was born and grew up in Madrid. He decided to become a language teacher because he is passionate about his language and culture. He has a Post-graduate Diploma in Teaching Spanish from the University of Barcelona and a Certificate in Advanced Methodology moderated by the University of Cambridge. He is also a DELE examiner and a qualified teacher trainer. As well as teaching at City Lit, Roberto teaches at London universities and Spanish schools. He has been teaching adults at all levels for many years, which he finds motivating as they share their knowledge, experiences and points of view. When he is not teaching, he enjoys reading historical novels, gardening and cooking.
