What is the course about?
One of Patsy Rodenburg's former students and a celebrated voice tutor in her own right takes you through some invaluable vocal exercises in an intensive workshop.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.
What will we cover?
Alignment breath and articulation exercises sourced from two of Patsy Rodenburg's publications.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
Have a clear sense of the vocal channel being able to phonate with a sense of ease.
Deepen your connection to the breath and release sound with freedom.
Identify exercises you can use as part of a regular voice limber.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Anyone with an interest in the voice is welcome.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
The workshop will be online.
As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Yvonne Morley-Chisholm has been a voice teacher and vocal coach for over 35 years. Her freelance work includes: as an associate with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal National Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe, TV and film productions; extensive work with voiceover artists; supporting writers Mark Ravenhill and David Edgar, and directors including Kathryn Hunter, Mike Alfreds, Lindsay Posner, Damian Cruden, Juliet Forster and Peter James. Yvonne has worked on productions from "The Crucible" and "Agamemnon" to "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time," numerous Shakespeare plays, and at theatres across London (Royal Court, Young Vic, Palladium, Southwark Playhouse etc.) and in York (Theatre Royal, Riding Lights, Shakespeare Rose). Yvonne has trained actors for drama schools including LAMDA (as Head of Voice) and universities in the USA and UK, and has taught at City Lit since 2016. Yvonne is part of the pioneering research joint venture “A Voice for Richard,” working on the remains of Richard III to give him voice. Her publications include “More Care For Your Voice,” “Building Character Voice,” “In the beginning …”, and the iPhone/iPad app “Voice Coach” (2020).
