Tell us a bit more about your role and the team you’re working in?

I have been working as an HR administrator at City Lit for about seven months. I do a lot of admin and paperwork, but as my time has progressed, I've been able to get involved in meetings, note taking, which has been exciting and good for my professional development. I work within the HR team which is quite a small team of about five people. Everyone’s really friendly. Working in HR can be fast paced but we work closely together and support each other.

What's your advice to new members of staff?

My advice to new colleagues would be to embrace the City Lit culture and get stuck in. I think you have a unique opportunity to meet so many people who are experts in their field. Just talk to people, build relationships, and be proud of the difference you're making in the community.

I knew it would be really rewarding to work for an organisation that highlights the importance of adult education and provides access to education to such a diverse range of students.

What do you enjoy most about working at City Lit?

We have great benefits at City Lit including a very good pension scheme, a cycle to work scheme, staff discounts, and we also have an EAP service. We often get freebies coming into the office, samples for everyone to try. We recently got a lot of porridge that's just came in for everyone to try. That was great! Another thing I really enjoy about working here, is that our office is right in the centre of Covent Garden, so there's lots of shops and restaurants nearby, it's a great atmosphere if you just walk around on your lunch.

What are your favourite perks of working at City Lit?

One of the great benefits of working at City Lit is that you can sign up to heavily discounted courses. I am going to do a level three first aid training at work course. Another great benefit is our central location, we’re in the heart of Covent Garden close to lots of cultural attractions, shops, and restaurants.
