Paving the way for greater representation

From her recent support role alongside Helena Bonham Carter in the acclaimed series "Nolly," to her aspirations and the transformative impact of her training at City Lit, Jo's success story serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for aspiring actors from all backgrounds.

Jo embraces her professional identity as an actor ‘who just happens to be trans’ and acknowledges the challenges that trans actors have faced in the past due to limited representation, which hindered their ability to see themselves reflected onscreen.

However, Jo remains optimistic, recognising the positive shift towards greater inclusivity in casting decisions and despite these challenges, Jo is determined to make headway and continue championing inclusivity in the industry.

A rising star

As a rising star, Jo dreams of tackling a vast array of roles, showcasing her versatility as an actor. While acknowledging the realism of her ambitions, she radiates enthusiasm and determination. Building on her recent success in "Nolly," Jo aims to expand her repertoire, increase her knowledge, and enhance her professional profile. We currently offer two part-time accredited options at City Lit: Foundation (a Level 2 Extended Certificate) and Acting Diploma (Level 3), both accredited by Open College Network London.
