This popular course explores musical theatre singing. Grow your knowledge of the repertoire. Suitable for singers and actors wanting to improve their singing and acting through song technique. Be guided through the basics to find the right singing qualities for this repertoire.

Come and play string repertoire in a friendly group, and develop your confidence in ensemble playing. Suitable for those who have been playing violin, viola, cello or double bass for at least two years, playing at Grade 3 standard or above. Please click the 'start interview' button to apply. Have you started work on your novel? This course is suitable for experienced creative writers who want to make progress with a novel draft. Learn more about the art of novel writing and move your project forward in a supportive workshop environment.

For experienced writers, this supportive but rigorous workshop offers the perfect opportunity to develop your novel or short story. Receive in-depth feedback and benefit from detailed group discussions on the art of fiction.

Develop and realise your creative language in art and design through the development of a personal project. Through workshops and small projects you will be able to build a portfolio of work in 2D and 3D related to your own personal theme or interest.

If you play piano at around grade 8 standard, join one of these workshops to develop your playing by studying a wide repertoire, learning to make your own stylistic and interpretive decision under your tutor's guidance. Break week 28th October 2024.

City Lit's most advanced, regular classes are for advanced pianists, whether  performers or specialist teachers. This course is designed to continue to develop your technique, broaden your repertoire and increase your understanding of piano playing to the highest level.

Ideal if you have some bookbinding conservation experience and want to develop your skills further by working on your own projects with advice and guidance. Each term will include demonstrations that focus on a different aspect of book conservation.

This course is for flautists with at least three years’ experience, or grade 3-5 standard, to advance their solo and ensemble playing in a variety of musical styles. Develop your instrumental technique, tone and musicianship in a creative and supportive environment. Break week 29th Feb 2025.

Practise and develop your acting skills by rehearsing scenes in detail. Engage with the fundamentals of performance in front of a live invited audience in our John Lyons Theatre in the final session.

We will continue developing ballet technique through barre, centre work and allegro exercises. Suitable for those who have been practicing for some time and have a strong grasp of techniques and terminology.
