Gain an understanding of the creative journey from a drawing to finished painting. Explore the creative potential when drawing and painting activities are combined.

Discover how to throw and produce interesting forms on the wheel. Learn the basic methods for making simple bowls and vases, ideal for beginners.

An introduction to using the sewing machine. Learn how to use the sewing machine safely and competently. We also look at troubleshooting and different sewing techniques.

Learn a wide variety of techniques including throwing, handbuilding, decoration and glazing. Ideal for beginners to pottery or for those with some experience.



NOTE: Applications will be reviewed in May 2025.

Learn a wide variety of basketry techniques: stake and strand, plaiting, twining and coiling in materials such as willow, cane, rush, cords, string, paper and possibly other less traditional ones.



This course is suitable for beginners, though some craft experience is expected. Payment plans will be available.

Study calligraphy with this in-depth, three term programme that will equip you with the essential techniques required for beautiful cursive handwriting. The course will cover specialist skills-based training in Calligraphy with Design, blending traditional skills with an introduction to the latest trends in the calligraphy and design world. An exciting, challenging, and thorough introduction to the art of calligraphy.

Learn how Botanical Illustrators accurately depict flowers, leaves, stems and seeds - for the purpose of genus and species identification by Botanists and Biologists.

Work from both primary and secondary source material to create an array of illustrative work, including anatomical and/or decorative.

Investigate mixed-media textiles through this project-based course which introduces a variety of materials, techniques and design processes. You will develop a creative portfolio of textile samples using sketchbook research and finally work towards a finished piece.

Watercolour has a rich tradition - this course will explore the more experimental ways of using this pleasurable medium and will present new possibilities for producing exciting new work with mixed media. Make inventive combinations of media to draw from your own found imagery, photographs and sketches.

On this experimental course, you will draw, paint and print in often unfamiliar ways in order to catch the unexpected. Through experimentation and reflection, you will collate a personal collection of work.

Develop creative expression and confidence in this classic art form. Explore manufactured/recycled materials and surface qualities by applying them directly onto a base to create your own Mosaic Please bring ideas/sketchbooks. Basic materials are provided. All levels welcome.

Do you ever dream of building your own individual sculpture practice? This inspiring, year-long course will challenge your thinking and help you identify themes and ideas that interest you; it will encourage you to experiment with all sorts of materials and processes, and build your confidence and capability to develop your own independent sculptural practice.

This course is a chance to develop personal artwork, using traditional printmaking methods with a contemporary approach. Experiment and embrace the possibilities within combined layers and surface textures. Processes covered include monotype, screen-printing and etching/intaglio. All levels of experience welcome.

This course is a great introduction to gold-tooling and the creative use of the medium. Learn how to gold tool on leather with various hand tools, using BS Glaire and gold leaf. All levels welcome.
