What is the course about?

These term-long courses offer access to City Lit studios, for self-motivated production of studio work, experimentation, and personal creative development. They are entirely optional, and separate from City Lit first or second year, for those who wish to have more studio time. To secure your place, contact the CLFA Course Leader or email visualarts@citylit.ac.uk. Recent CLFA graduates may also take part, subject to the approval of the Course Leader. Places are subject to availability.

What will we cover?

You will work independently on your own practice. During these sessions, the studio will be shared with year 3 students who will each be developing self-motivated creative work. There is therefore the opportunity for informal dialogue between CLFA students on different years. Although you will not be taught during the session, there will be opportunities to engage in group discussions and to benefit from and contribute to the studio culture.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

You will have had the opportunity to develop your knowledge, skills and existing practice, working alongside students from all years of the course. You will have had additional time to focus on developing new ideas, on experimentation, or on bringing existing work and ideas to completion.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

These sessions are available for existing CLFA students or those who have recently completed and would like to access the studio in order to be able to continue their practice.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

These are non-taught sessions. You are free to develop your won work outside and on your other courses as you wish.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Basic materials are available, but you are expected to provide any specialist materials of your own.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

These sessions are provided to supplement your studio time on CLFA year 1 or 2, or, as recent CLFA graduate, to provide studio access in order to support you in sustaining your practice.
