What is the course about?

This course will provide upper-intermediate learners with a chance to consolidate their Cornish and sit the Grade 3 examination if they wish.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

Topics will include community, family, the countryside, holidays and culture.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Make arrangements and plans in Cornish
- Talk about things with multiple processes or stages
- Recognise and use more informal expressions
- Respond in increasingly complex sentences
- Confidently use different forms of the past tense and the conditional.
- Use all 5 mutations.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

You will need to have studied Cornish for at least 2 years. Students should have completed a course at Grade 2 level of the Cornish Language Board exams or have equivalent experience (i.e. have studied for approximately 2 years). You should know the basic word orders of Cornish and know how to form sentences in the present, past and future. You should be able to accurately answer “yes” and “no” (using the different forms of verbs). You should be able to ask for help in Cornish when you don’t understand.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

The course is based on the tutor’s own materials which will be shared via Google Classroom.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?
