What is the course about?
On this short practical course you will learn how to shoot professional-quality HD video with your digital SLR camera, You will find out how to set up your camera to the correct recording format, how to use the automatic settings and you will be introduced to some of the manual settings to optimise your footage and accommodate different shooting conditions. You will also be introduced to the use and of different lenses and some of the different methods of recording audio.

- Using your camera in automatic mode
- Some manual settings to optimise your footage
- An overview of the use of different lenses
- An overview of some of the different sound recording options.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This is a beginners course open to anyone with a digital camera and an interest in video filming.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
You will be taught using a range of techniques including workshops, short lectures, demonstrations, practical
exercises, tutorials, group and individual assistance and hand-outs. Please note we will be working on Apple Mac
computers.
We use Google Classroom E-learning platform which will store all tasks, notes and resources. You will be sent an email with the necessary information and will need to login into your Google classroom before each sessions starts.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
You will need to bring your own digital SLR camera with you to the class if you have one. If you don’t, some
cameras will be made available to the group for use in the class.

Since then Lyndon has been developing a number of feature films for his production company while working as a filmmaker, with his most recent short film The Verity featuring in a number of international film festivals. For over eighteen years Lyndon has been running a wide range of practical film courses aimed at beginners and professionals alike. His teaching style is very practical, “I try to make them as enjoyable as possible and hopefully the first thing the students would want to do after the course is make another film…”
