What is the course about?
In this fun and dynamic ‘taster’ class you will learn fundamental dance moves, steps and rhythms in an energising and supportive atmosphere.
What will we cover?
If you have always wondered who attends a dance class, what the content is like or even what the staff are like you can now find out for by joining a taster workshop without committing to a long course.
The class will include practical and key components of a typical dance class; warm up, technique, travelling steps or possibly a short routine/combination.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
Identify your level and ability with advice from the staff
Demonstrate a greater awareness of the dance style.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
A taster workshop for beginners and for those wishing to explore different styles of dance in a fun practical setting.
A beginner's dance class isn’t just for newcomers. In any dance class there will be student’s of all levels and abilities. We all have different learning techniques and paces. If your first class seems overwhelming and you can’t get it the first time, don’t worry: dance is heavily reliant on repetition so it will happen. We want you to learn and to have fun so just give it your best and keep coming back!
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Follow spoken instructions
• Use numbers to recognise rhythms within dance.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
This class is tutor led. Teaching will include practical class work, discussion, observation and supportive feedback for individual and group awareness.
HEALTH CHECK

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Advice will be given if you wish to continue taking lessons. You are of course encouraged to bring any dance shoes you already have. Practice may include bare-feet. Students to tie their hair back if it is long for their own safety and comfort. Jewellery should be removed at the start of the class and mobile phones switched off. Bring bottled water.
