What is the course about?

This short course introduces you to how artists use collage and mixed media and how you can explore and experiment with different techniques through a series of practical exercises, to create complete pieces of large scale work or studies that can be used for further development.

What will we cover?

We will look at ideas around form, space, scale and juxtaposition whilst working with assemblage, collage and decollage, working with found imagery and objects alongside your own mark-making.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Respond to the work of mixed-media artists
- Create large scale work using a variety of mixed-media techniques
- Incorporate a more explorative, open-minded approach to your own artistic practice
- Gain confidence to progress to further study and make an informed decision when choosing a higher level mixed media course.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

The course is suitable for both beginners and those with previous experience looking to experiment with new techniques. Bring an open mind and sense of adventure.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Presentations, demonstrations, group discussion and individual tuition. You will work individually and in groups. Come with an open mind and a willingness to experiment and to collaborate with others.
