What is the course about?
This course follows on from Sanskrit Level 1, Module 1. The aim is to consolidate what has been learned so far; expand vocabulary and grasp further concepts of Sanskrit grammar, enabling you to read more complex sentences in Sanskrit.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.
What will we cover?
Sandhi; consonant ending nominal declensions; thematic verbs in the present, imperfect and future tenses; expressing the indefinite; complementary sentences; the middle and passive voice; past passive and active participles.

Read simple prose stories appropriate to this level; acquire a vocabulary of about 100 words.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
You should have done Sanskrit Level 1 Module 1 or have equivalent competency. You must be able to read the Devanagari script. As the course is taught in English, please read the outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support with your English skills to help you take part fully in this class.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Weekly class room contact with interactive presentations and worksheets. You should be prepared to spend at least 3 hours outside the classroom for revision and homework.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
A catalogue of free online resources and a bibliography will be provided. You are liberty to invest in a primer that suits your budget. A file, loose paper and erasable pens would be practical.
