Ever fancied producing your own animations for web, devices and video? Come and learn the basics of creating professional-looking drawn animated sequences using the software application Animate CC (formerly known as Flash.). An ideal taster if you are interested in our 30 week City Lit animation course but would like to try it out before signing up.



What is the course about?

This hands-on taster will guide you through the basics of creating drawn animation sequences using Animate CC (Flash) software. Get to grips with using the drawing tools, creating keyframes and using onion skinning in Animate CC , as well as the key techniques in traditional drawn animation.

What will we cover?

- An introduction to the drawing tools in Animate CC
- Using layers, keyframes and onion skinning to create animated sequences
- Exporting sequences as QuickTime movies.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Use the paint, pencil, fill and transform tools in Animate CC
- Use layers and onion skinning
- Produce an animated sequence using keyframes and blank keyframes
- Export an animated sequence to a QuickTime movie.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is an introductory course, so no prior experience is required.
You'll just need to be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You'll also need to be happy to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

We will guide you using demonstrations, group and individual assistance, and notes.
Please note we will be working on Apple Mac computers.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

The latest professional equipment and software are available for your use on this course.
You may wish to bring a memory stick or a portable hard drive to store your work.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

You can develop your animation skills further with VK509 Start digital animation using Adobe Animate (Flash) or if you feel ready to make a commitment to developing your animation practice you may like to do VK413 City Lit Animation course. City Lit offer a range of courses in 2D and 3D Animation, Adobe Animate, Adobe After Effects, Character animation, editing, sound, illustration, cartooning, storyboarding and adobe Photoshop to enhance your animation practice.
