What is the course about?
Further improving the strength, flexibility and expressive potential of your voice and speech.
What will we cover?
Release of tension; breath support, control and pressure; resonance; pitch development; articulation; and approaches to text.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
Demonstrate improvements in breath placement, capacity and support using more advanced breathing exercises.
Display enhanced vocal strength and tone through examination of resonance.
Apply enhanced pitch possibilities to heightened text.
Demonstrate greater clarity and expressiveness of articulation in delivery of heightened text.
Identify your own areas for continued vocal development and describe how that development could take place.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
For anyone who has completed Voice Technique: Beginners or studied voice on a similar course.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
Speak English fluently.
Communicate in group situations.
Give and receive constructive feedback.
Read and respond to a range of texts, including classical.
Take course notes for your own use.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
This course will be taught in the college
Exercises for the whole class, some pair and small group work. You must practise the exercises between classes.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
Loose clothing; a small hand mirror; notebook and pen.

Kate is a richly experienced voice tutor, and somatic psychotherapist. She is an established visiting voice tutor at the City Lit. Kate has a Degree in Acting and a Masters in Voice Studies from London’s Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She is an experienced actress with credits in theatre, television and film. Kate has honed her bespoke coaching practice in the corporate sector both in London and abroad. She regularly trains staff at all levels, and delivers executive level coaching for middle management and CEOs. She specialises in Personal Impact, Public Speaking, Presentation Skills, Voice and Speech coaching, and Accent Softening, tailoring courses to meet client needs while supporting the development of the individual’s unique gifts, strengths and communication style. As a psychotherapist Kate has the ability to work effectively with professionals who are challenged by constant change, performance stress, and the need for resilience and flexibility within their work place dynamics. Kate’s approach is highly intuitive while grounded in technique, passion and experience.
