Are you excited by the language of Maths? Join this GCSE course after completing Maths higher GCSE (introduction) and learn how numbers, symbols and formulas enable us to identify and solve problems as well as find patterns and structure in the world. This course will extend your analytical and problem-solving skills and help you develop logic to plan and manage activities. A Maths GCSE is one of the most commonly required qualifications by employers and universities and by achieving it you will enhance your job and education prospects.







You must attend every class and do the necessary homework. If you do not, you will not be able to continue the course.

For pianists with around three years' experience. Improve your finger technique, coordination, phrasing, music



reading, and your confidence.

Join our weekly dance and movement classes to improve mobility, posture, balance and coordination. Our aim is to inspire older men and women to get creative with dance and movement.

Explore the art of counterpoint, a musical technique in which two or more melodies are combined to create a highly



engaging musical texture. Over the year you will learn contrapuntal technique from Renaissance to Twentieth Century styles, through score analysis and practical exercises. The course is split into three terms, focusing on Renaissance style in term 1. Break week: 28 Oct 2025.

Develop your jazz musicianship, repertoire, playing and improvising. Practise ear training, study jazz harmony, learn challenging repertoire. For players with established jazz education at foundation level. Assessment for entry to this course can be arranged when you apply to music@citylit.ac.uk. Break week: 28th October.

Learn the common reasons for abstraction in art, across time and culture. From the Byzantine icon to the Igbo figurine, from Young Sook Park to Mark Rothko, we’ll think about how abstraction is more common in the history of art than is typically thought. Explore ways into thinking about and experiencing abstract art.

Too often we rush around without looking, this course takes time to examine 3 of London’s most famous Squares in depth. A gentle walk allows us to explore these London landmarks at our leisure.

Using Alex Ross’s 'The Rest is Noise' as a guide, we'll investigate art music in the first half of the 20th century. This module covers Mahler’s last symphonies, fin de siècle Paris and the Ballet Russes, and Expressionism and the Second Viennese School. Break week: 28 October 2025.

Are you an experienced lipreader, confident in your theory, but wishing to keep up your skills with continued practice? Suitable if you have been coming to lipreading classes for a while and want to continue to be stretched.







This course will be taught in spoken English and not in sign language.

Maintain and extend your playing skills and musicianship in our advanced course. Repertoire is jazz and popular music and you will occasionally rehearse sax ensemble arrangements.
