Feeling a bit rusty when it comes to working on your stammering? If you have already completed some therapy either at City Lit or elsewhere, this workshop offers you the ideal opportunity to revise what you’ve learnt so far, practise your speech techniques and to become more open about, and desensitised to, stammering.

Develop and practise a range of essential core counselling skills to help you work with emotional issues you will encounter as an SLT. You will receive feedback and learn through experience and reflective practice. This course is suitable for recently qualified therapists as well as therapists in training.

Debating requires the ability to speak English persuasively in public and, crucially, to respond rapidly to other people’s objections to what you say. We will cover the theory and practice of debating, and you will progress quickly in areas of content, strategy and style. A great mental workout. This course will be taught online.

Learning how to handle money is very important in life. It doesn't matter how old you are - it's always a good time to get better at it. During this course you will explore different ways of managing your money so you can reach your goals, deal with unexpected stuff, and feel good about having enough money. We'll make it fun and interesting to learn about money. By the end, you'll understand why having a budget is important, how to keep track of what you spend, be ready for bills, and even plan for big things like a holiday or buying a home.

The music history book club meets towards the end of each term to discuss novels and biographies with musical themes and references relevant to the music history programme.

Develop your lipreading skills and strategies for face-to-face communication and keep up-to-date with relevant equipment and services. This course is suitable if you have completed improvers module 1 and 2.
