Does the language of Maths excite you? Do you want to understand how numbers, symbols and formulas enable us to identify and solve problems as well as find patterns and structure in the world? A Maths GCSE is one of the most commonly required qualifications by employers and universities, and by achieving it you will enhance your job and education prospects.
Which course is right for me?
To make sure you book onto the right course, we'll ask you to do a pre-course assessment. You can:
- Take a online assessment - Click on ‘Start Assessment’ button of the Introduction course below. You must pass this short introductory course before moving on to the full GCSE.
- Or book a face-to-face assessment - Contact us by email at universal.skills@citylit.ac.uk for an appointment.
Face-to-face assessments take place every Wednesday evening between 6-8pm or at the following times:
Thursday 03 November 2022 from 1-3pm
Monday 14 November 2022 from 2-4pm
Wednesday 23 November 2022 from 6-8pm
Wednesday 7 December 2022 from 6-8pm
The GCSE courses are FREE to most learners. They are live online interactive classes. You will need a computer with a microphone, a camera and the internet. It is best to use Google Chrome.

Do you want to gain a Maths GCSE but are not ready yet to achieve this in a single year? Do you need to test your abilities before attempting the qualification course? Then this Getting Ready for Maths GCSE is the course for you. It will prepare you for the accreditation and familiarise you with its content, level and expectation. You will need to complete and pass an initial assessment before starting this course to demonstrate at least a Level 1 Functional Skills level of Maths. This course will extend your analytical and problem-solving skills and help you develop logic to plan and manage activities. A Maths GCSE is one of the most commonly required qualifications by employers and universities and by achieving it you will enhance your job and education prospects. Please note the Friday classes are not every Friday, but approximately every third week..
(Assessments including mock tests will take place in the City Lit building and you need to be able to attend these in person as required).
You MUST have passed the Maths GCSE (Introduction) course (see website) and completed a pre-course assessment before being accepted onto this GCSE course. At the same time you complete your pre-course assessment, please also complete our pre-course form and tell us more about yourself.
