Crime, icy atmosphere, shill… Nordic series smell of winter! Come to experience this feeling in this short session, learning basic Danish through well-known crime fiction characters.

Description

What is the course about?

Learn the reasons crime series are so popular in Nordic culture and get your first experience of the Norwegian language through a famous Danish TV character.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

Basic sentences to introduce someone or a place and insight in the Danish crime in fiction culture.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- to say my name and the one of others
- to basically introduce someone (nationality, place of residence, work, habits…)
- to understand an aspect of Norwegian culture.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Complete beginners.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The session will involve to work in pairs or small group, to repeat words or sentences and to participate actively in activities.

Dan Skili Tutor Website

Dan graduated as a Dramatherapist from Central School of Speech and Drama in 2000 and has nearly 20 years of extensive experience working with people in various settings. He is employed by the London Borough of Sutton as a Dramatherapist for the Sutton Clinical Health Team and has worked there for over 14 years. As the placement manager, he also supervises Dramatherapy Roehampton University students. Dan has taught drama therapy at City Lit since 2011, and now also runs The Acting room: developing potential, which is ideal for anyone who may require a little more time, support and adjustment to engage in the acting process. Dan regularly facilitates and make use of Forum Theatre, Playback Theatre and Gabriel Roth‘s 5 Rhythms, and recently worked with women and men who experience domestic abuse, in the London Borough of Greenwich. Dan’s more recent work, since 2017, includes facilitating ongoing therapy and therapeutic discussion groups for men. Dan is a registered Clinical Supervisor and offer supervision to all professionals who work in the Health and Caring professions and his private practice is in London Bridge next to Borough Market [see www.counselling-directory.org.uk]
