Voice Training for Actors and Professionals at City Lit is offered by some of the highest qualified voice specialists in the industry today. Voice skills are not just for actors, they are for anyone who wishes to unlock the full expressive potential of their voice.

Expert tutors

The majority of our tutors have an MA in Voice Studies from Royal Central School of speech and Drama, the highest international qualification. Our classes are taught by professional performers and practitioners, many of whom also teach at leading London drama schools. We also offer advanced masterclasses focusing on different voice practitioners. Please refer to individual course outlines for individual staff biographies.

Studying at City Lit

Our media studio in the heart of Covent Garden is fully equipped for study of voice in media, including Acting for Radio; Radio Presenting, Voiceovers and how to approach Character Voice for Animation. Our performance studios at City Lit’s Covent Garden headquarters are ideal spaces for working on the technical aspects of voice such as breath and articulation, crucial for any type of public speaking.

  7. Speak Shakespeare monologues and scenes: comedies

    Do you enjoy speaking Shakespeare or would you like to enjoy it? Whether you are preparing a Shakespearean monologue for audition or simply have an interest in their structure, rhythm and poetry, this course enables you to work on and speak monologues from the Comedies with confidence as well as rehearse duologues/ scene work from As You Like It and All's Well That Ends Well specifically. The course is held at the college, and includes a trip to the Box Office Studio in Shoreditch, site of the original Theatre where the Lord Chamberlain's Men performed.
