With much change in the world we may find our sleep is disturbed as we process change. Acknowledging this we can draw on Yoga practices designed to calm the mind and body in readiness for deep rest. .

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart
phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.

What will we cover?

Yoga and breathing practices that can help calm the system and support better sleep. How soft, gentle postures and movement can shift us into the parasympathetic nervous system and thereby calm the mind. There will be space to share approaches that may help prepare for sleep.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Discuss how once can help reduce sleep disturbances
Develop a personal action plan for preparing for and restoring better sleep
Perform basic yoga restorative postures and breathing practices at home
Become familiar with at least two breathing practices.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Newcomers to yoga as well as those experienced in yoga both welcome.

For 20 years Sarah has been teaching people who do not usually have access to yoga. She is the leader in the field of yoga for deaf people. She also works with people recovering from, or living with, specific physical and emotional health issues (including those living with dementia) through delivery of Chair Yoga classes across Westminster and K & C, and at Triyoga. Sarah qualified as an Inner Yoga Trust and British Wheel of Yoga registered teacher / practitioner. She danced from the age of four, and was first moved by Yoga when she was 16, though it has not always been easy for her to access as she is partially deaf. She has taught Deaf Yoga classes for staff members at DCAL (Deafness Cognition & Language Research Centre), Deaf Plus, Sign Health, DeafWorks, Oak Lodge School, Remark!, Special Yoga Centre, Sense and the Deaf Multilingual Community Service. Sarah’s yoga is an expression of and has evolved from her understanding of the teachings and a mix of Scaravelli informed, Iyengar and Satyanada Yoga.
