What does film studies involve? Learn how to enjoy, discuss and criticise films while being part of a real-time working example of a City Lit film studies class. We will view clips from a wide variety of films, exploring themes and technique in current City Lit courses 24/25.

This lecture explains art history as a critical thinking, community building tool. More than the study of elite objects, we’ll think about how studying art history might transform our cultural landscape and our personal perspectives on humanity. Curious about art history? Join us for this taster session where we explore different ways into visual art and its histories, from the ancient to the contemporary.

Do you want to organise, write, edit, layout the student newsletter for the Universal Skills department? In this class you will develop all your communication skills and other essential work and life skills such as problem-solving, organisation, decision-making, analysing, paying attention to detail, and digital and computer skills. You will also improve your maths skills when you layout the newsletter, calculate how many to produce, the length and number of articles, word count and so on. You will write and edit articles for the newsletter on issues such as the environment, cost of living and life stories. You will also work on articles from other students and edit and proof-read them, decide which articles to include and so on. And you will also edit a maths section to help other learners improve their number and maths skills.

This course is for Deaf people who already use sign language in their everyday lives.







It will help you to develop confidence, and is a chance to practise everyday BSL at beginner and intermediate level. You will build on and expand your skills ready for the next level of BSL. This is not a course with an exam but you will receive a certificate of attendance if you attend 80% of the course.
