Would you like to add some stillness to your existing chi kung practice?
At this workshop we will follow the support cycle of the five elements earth, metal, water, wood and fire. We will slow down and connect to stillness, become more grounded, centred and relaxed, get a better energy flow and become more aware of ourselves, others and our surroundings. We will also do some standing and sitting meditation.

What is the course about?

This course is especially designed for beginners and introduces you to the art of Chi Kung (also written as Qigong). Come along and discover the gentle art of movement, where the breath is used in harmony with body movements, thereby helping to create a smooth flow in movement. Chi Kung is a Chinese movement exercise, This course will teach you some slow meditative movements and postures, linked to the Five Elements in Chinese Philosophy. You will learn the basic theory of The Five Elements. Chi kung helps to focus the mind and builds confidence.

What will we cover?

You will learn the basic stance in Chi Kung, along with some warm up exercises. Slow meditative movements and postures for each Element (Earth, Metal, Water, Wood and Fire) will be taught. The day will usually end with a sitting meditation.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Practise the basic chi kung stance
- Perform some warm up exercises
- Demonstrate 5 movements or postures related to the Five Elements
- Practise sitting meditation.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is a beginners’ course. No specific skills are required.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The tutor will demonstrate all moves; the group will work along with the tutor.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

It is advisable to wear loose comfortable clothing and soft flat shoes.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

You can enrol in a longer, termly, course in Chi Kung.

Heike Clarke Tutor Website

Heike Clarke is a German tutor, Chi Kung tutor and Craniosacral Therapist. After completing her MA in English and Spanish Philology and Adult Education in Germany, she moved to London, where she has been a German teacher since 2003. Being a life-long learner, she also tried out many courses at Citylit as a student and developed a passion for Chi Kung. In 2011 she became a Chi Kung teacher. In 2017 she graduated as a Craniosacral Therapist at the CTET where she currently also is an assistant tutor. Heike loves the mixture of her subject areas and to develop her knowledge further and beyond and she loves teaching.
