Location on this date: KS - Keeley StreetDo you need to become more confident in maths in your daily life, whether making calculations with money, understanding figures, charts and graphs in newspapers or online or measuring areas? This course will help you with the essential maths you need to participate, make progress and express yourself in society today. You will work with whole numbers, fractions and decimal numbers and use maths to solve problems involving time, money and measurement. You will learn about the properties of shapes, both 2D and 3D and how to read, interpret and comment on information in tables and charts. By the end of the course, you will be much more aware of how much maths there is in everyday life and how maths can help you.

- Becoming data literate: making calculations, using percentages, fractions and averages (level 1-2)Course start date: Tue 19 Oct 2021
Location on this date: OnlineUnderstanding data, producing it and making decisions based on it are now essential skills for everyone both inside and outside work. Most of us are doing this every day without realising. This course will help you understand and interpret data such as "people make between 1 to 18 calculations each day, with a mean of 3." You will focus on what data is, why it is important, what to use it for. You will learn about different types of calculations, how to use measurements accurately plusidentifying and presenting data patterns. By the end of the course you will have developed the key mathematical, numerical and analytical skills you need to use and make sense of important data at work, in the news and in your daily life. Please note, this course is for students who are around pre-GCSE level or who have gained maths qualifications but haven't used maths for a long time.
