What is the course about?

This course is a continuation of Introduction to Podcasting, designed for learners who are ready to take their podcasting ideas further. You’ll refine your podcast’s structure, deepen audience engagement and explore how to align your content with a clear purpose whether for advocacy, community building, or professional storytelling.

The course also introduces practical techniques to support your podcasting workflow, including interview formats, production options and tips for recording that help minimise the need for editing. Peer feedback and guided reflection will support your creative development.

Note: This course does not include editing tutorials.

What will we cover?

• Structuring your podcast for clarity, flow and impact

• Interview techniques: formats, tone and preparation

• Exploring podcasting for advocacy, community building, or professional storytelling

• Production options: solo, remote and collaborative formats

• Tips for recording to reduce post-production effort

• Ethical considerations in podcasting

• Peer feedback and guided development of your podcast concept

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is a continuation course for learners who have completed Introduction to Podcasting or have equivalent experience. You should already be familiar with the podcasting landscape, basic podcasting concepts and have a working idea or project in development.

In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:

• Speak English fluently

• Read and respond to a variety of text

• Give and receive constructive feedback

• Reflect on your podcasting goals and audience

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

This is a practical course of coached sessions including group and solo activities, peer feedback, and guided development. No assignments are included.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

No. There are no extra costs apart from your own note-taking materials. You may choose to bring your own laptop if you prefer.
