Have you always wanted to learn British Sign Language and communicate with Deaf people? Develop the skills you need to gain the level 1 BSL qualification, accredited by Signature. The fees for BSL level 1 courses include a year's subscription to Signworld.







You may wish to study BSL without the pressure of an exam, or just for fun. We can arrange for you to be taught without a formal final assessment and you will receive a certificate of attendance.

Learn the elements of mindfulness-based stress management and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. Experience a range of mindfulness practices. Background theory is included and relevance for clients and therapist well-being benefits will be explored.

Develop your personal effectiveness by learning and practising some key assertiveness skills that are highly relevant in a range of situations including: attending an interview, working with clients, communicating with your manager/supervisor and contributing to an MDT meeting.

In a supportive group you will work on desensitisation and practise your stammering management strategies. Become more confident by learning how to problem solve and extend your comfort zone.

Do you know a hard of hearing or deaf person who needs to lipread you? Find out how lipreading works and how you can make some small adjustments in order to become more 'lipreadable'.

This course will give you practical strategies for coping with your hearing loss and will help improve your confidence and well-being.







This course will be taught in spoken English and not in sign language.

Learn strategies to help you speak more easily, work on becoming less sensitive and worried about stammering (also known as stuttering), reduce avoidance strategies and work towards saying what you want to say when you want to say it. This intensive course will enable you to make maximum progress in minimum time and will give you a solid foundation to continue to make positive changes following the course. It runs for five days Monday to Friday 8-12 July, then two follow-up days on 16-17 September. We will also provide videoconferencing (Zoom) group support sessions on 22/7/24 6-8pm and 7/10/24 6-8pm.

This course is for speech and language therapists working with adults or young people who stammer wishing to develop their practice. It will provide opportunity to update your knowledge and learn from peers.

This course has 4 free spaces for learners aged 19-23, who meet the residency criteria and who have not previously achieved a full level 3 qualification. These places are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis to applicants who fully meet the course entry requirements.







If you are not eligible for a free place you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from Student Finance England (SFE).

The Access to Higher Education Diploma (Humanities and Social Science) is a qualification designed for anyone who has left school without the usual qualifications (GCSEs or A-levels) and wishes to study at university.







It is a highly intensive, fast-track route to higher education, where you will complete the equivalent of 3 A-Levels in one year, and requires attendance ONLINE via ZOOM two nights per week (on Tuesdays and Thursdays) from 6-9.15pm, as well as online tutorials every two to three weeks (from 5pm) and substantial private study. These dates and times are non-negotiable and you are required to attend every session. There may also be optional study sessions at our Central London Campus on one Saturday each term.







Due to the course's intensity, priority will be given to applications from those who are serious and sure about progressing to degree level study and are ready to take on the intense challenge that the year will bring.

The course fee is £3022 payable at the time of your enrolment. If you are unable to pay the course fees, you can choose to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to help cover the course fee. These sessions can be taught at any level and are designed to help you improve your BSL. You can ask your teacher to give guidance on specific areas of BSL. This can also be used to ‘brush up’ and practise before assessments and exams. If you are on one of our BSL courses and wish to undertake further practice in your own time then this course is for you! Please contact the department for further details and to discuss your requirements. You will then be assigned one of our BSL teachers to work with you.
