Have you always wanted to learn British Sign Language and communicate with Deaf people? Develop the skills you need to gain the level 1 BSL qualification, accredited by Signature. The fees for BSL level 1 courses include a year's subscription to Signworld.







You may wish to study BSL without the pressure of an exam, or just for fun. We can arrange for you to be taught without a formal final assessment and you will receive a certificate of attendance.

This course will help you to get confident in reading, writing and communication. You will learn to read pieces of texts, write sentences, spell correctly and use punctuation.You will also learn all the basic functions of creating Word documents: adding, copying, moving and formatting text, inserting pictures and creating tables, checking spelling and grammar, changing the page layout and printing different documents accurately. This course has no exams.

This course is suitable for you if wish to improve your knowledge of English tenses. You will learn the names of the different tenses, for what situations we use them and their structure form. You will be signposted to online sources of information and practical exercises which can be used to refine and revise your knowledge throughout the course and after the course has concluded. Find out about the skills involved in lipreading and build your confidence in understanding conversations. Suitable if you have little or no experience of lipreading.

Have you have passed your level 2 in BSL but need more confidence and advice before moving on to a level 3 course? You will improve the standard of your productive and receptive BSL skills to enable you to converse comfortably with a BSL user.

The City & Guilds (6502) Award in Education and Training is an initial teacher training course ideal for anyone who teaches adults - or has experience of teaching adults - in Further Education or Adult and Community Learning. We may also consider you if you do not have teaching experience, but are qualified in your subject and have worked in a related field. The course will be mostly online, with some sessions at City Lit.

Learn the elements of mindfulness-based stress management and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. Experience a range of mindfulness practices. Background theory is included and relevance for clients and therapist well-being benefits will be explored.

Develop your personal effectiveness by learning and practising some key assertiveness skills that are highly relevant in a range of situations including: attending an interview, working with clients, communicating with your manager/supervisor and contributing to an MDT meeting.
