What is the course about?

This reading club is for people at or approaching, level Sylfaen ie who are in their second year of studiying Welsh.
It will involve reading aloud in Welsh and discussing, which will help consolidate grammar patterns learnt on City Lit Welsh courses, as well as broadening vocabulary, pronunciation, and intonation of whole phrases.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

This course is a continuation of our Term 2 Clwb Darllen Sylfaen. We will be finishing, 'Sgwp' by Lois Arnold ISBN 9781848518827.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

have a wider vocabulary.
have improved pronunciation.
have had an introduction to Welsh literature.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

You will have studied Welsh actively for at least 1 year or be working towards level Sylfaen.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

- Preparation for each class: You will have to read one chapter prior to the class to familiarise yourself with the text.
- Work in class: You will look at the chapter read in more details (vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar…) with the tutor and/or the other students through pair and small group discussion.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Contact the Languages Department or ask your course tutor for information about reading materials.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Welsh courses in September- Ask the tutor for advice as we offer different levels.
