What is the course about?
Deepen your existing yoga practise and increase your understanding of your practice and body awareness through the study and practice of yoga asana, pranayama and relaxation. Practise asanas with more refinement and enjoy the challenge of exploring a connected and sensible approach to the body in practice.
What will we cover?
- Yoga postures in details. Introduction to progressive Asanas, including a variety practical anatomy
- Relaxation and visualisation
- Pranayama.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- Perform a great variety of asana correctly and independently
- Demonstrate safe and intelligent body use in your yoga practice
- Choose suitable props to support and supplement your postures
- Obtain improved peace of mind
- Practice Pranayama techniques.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Students should have attended a yoga course before. You should be able to maintain concentration for the duration of the class and have the concentration to keep focussed for the duration of the practice. You will need to be able to follow verbal instructions, observe and copy physical movements and use spatial awareness. If you any condition that may affect your participation in a class, please check with a GP whether it is suitable for you to undertake an exercise programme before attending.
Advice can be sought from the Department Office for those who have concerns about the suitability of the class for them.
