Peter Brown interviewed by See Hear's John Wilson at City Lit

Our deaf education tutor Peter Brown was interviewed for the BBC TV programme See Hear, which focused on the experience of deaf people in the First World War. Filmed at City Lit, Peter talks about how deaf people in London contributed to the war effort, as well as how lipreading courses started for soldiers deafened by shelling.

Lipreading courses first began at City Lit in 1919, providing crucial support and resources for deafened soldiers returning from the Western Front. Peter is even interviewed wearing his authentic period army uniform.

City Lit is a nationally-renowned centre of excellence for deaf education. See our Centre for Deaf Education pages for information on courses, events and support.
