Munira Mirza awarded City Lit fellowship

Former Deputy Mayor of London for education and culture, Munira Mirza, has been awarded her City Lit fellowship.

Ahead of receiving her award, Munira discussed her career working in City Hall, and her passion for adult education, in a conversation with Deputy Chair of Governors, Annita Bennett.

During the discussion, Munira shared her thoughts on:

- Her eight year career working at City Hall with a remit for education, the arts and culture

- Working alongside current Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, during his tenure as Mayor of London

- Her personal passion for Art History, and plans to support the subject

- Brexit, and how her pro-Leave stance marks her out from many in the arts community

- Opportunities for minorities and the government's recent Race Disparity Report

 

Speaking about her thoughts on City Lit, Munira said:

"Adult education has to be accessible - and that's where City Lit does a brilliant job."

Munira was presented with her fellowship by City Lit Principal and CEO, Mark Malcomson CBE.
