Our range of part-time, weekend and evening art and design classes are taught by successful artists and practitioners to ensure you get the skills, knowledge and experience you want and deserve. From experimental painting and drawing to contemporary jewellery making, there is sure to be a course for you. Study from 1 day to 2 years, whether you are a complete beginner or a practising artist preparing for an MA. Our courses are designed with you in mind, so you get to spend more time doing what you love.

  7. Fine binding masterclass III: creative approaches to design binding

    If you already have technical bookbinding skills but want to kickstart, or develop your creative and design skills then this course will help you to develop ways of engaging visually with the content of the book. This course is aimed at bookbinders interested in design binding but would benefit anyone working in book arts who is interested in exploring a text visually.

    This three day summerschool course (with one day break) gives an exciting introduction to the basic processes and principles of etching. Using zinc plate, create beautiful images with line, texture and tone, and experiment with printing your image in both monochrome and colour.

  10. Mokulito: summer school intensive

    Summer school intensive two weekends in Mokulito printmaking, or wood lithography. This fascinating print process uses plywood as a printing matrix to draw on with inks, sharpies and lithographic crayons and create images that will print as small editions.

  11. Wax carving for the foundry: cast your sculpture in bronze

    Carve, melt and form wax to create a small figurative or abstract bronze sculpture. The wax will be cast in bronze at the Castle Arts Foundry and returned finished.

  12. Drypoint and intaglio printmaking: summer school intensive

    Drypoint is a way of creating grooves in a solid surface, it produces a rich unique type of drawn line, from which you will make prints using intaglio inking methods and the printing press, This summer workshop offers the opportunity to use specialist techniques and tools and gain insight into how these sit within the creative practice of artists using drypoint. For all levels, although some experience of drawing is preferable.
