In this talk he unpacks his creative process through reference mainly to work made over the last year. The relationship between visual research and the impact of each medium’s material qualities is explored. From the re-enactment of archival photographs in the studio to the emergence through photographic, drawing and painting processes of an incomplete index of witness, he considers how the physical act of making and artefact acknowledge the essential, concrete existence of the body. Tony Hull is a drawing and painting tutor at city lit and a major contributor to its fine art course.
