This class is suitable for if you have completed module 1 or an introduction to lipreading class at City Lit. You will develop your lipreading and fingerspelling skills and build your confidence.

This is a live online course. You will need:

- A computer with microphone and camera. (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook). The classes work best using a desktop device. Please avoid accessing the class using a tablet or phone as the screen size will limit your ability to lipread or join in with the class.

This course is designed for beginners who have little or no prior knowledge of Arabic. It focuses on developing basic speaking and listening skills in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), the standardised form of Arabic used in formal settings, media, and literature. The course will introduce students to essential vocabulary and grammar structures, with a focus on practical communication in everyday situations.

Share thoughts and ideas about what you are reading, with books chosen by the group. Please come to the first session with suggestions (contemporary literary fiction in paperback) and having read 'The Wren, The Wren' by Anne Enright.
